Spoofing Alert: Fraudulent Phone Calls
Date Published: September 23, 2024
At EECU, the safety of your information and assets is our top priority. To help protect yourself against fraud attempts, it is imperative to know how to detect a potential scam.
“Spoofing” is a term for scams that mimic the likeness of a financial institution in order to appear more legitimate. In “spoofing” cases, fraudsters will create fake websites, phone numbers or email accounts that look similar to official EECU channels. Just because something seems like it is from EECU, doesn’t always mean that it is from EECU.
Sometimes, it can be difficult to correctly determine what is real and what is fraudulent. As a reminder, EECU will NEVER contact you via phone or email to ask for your debit card PIN number, or your online banking login information.
If at any point you receive a phone call or email claiming to be from EECU that seems suspicious, please discontinue your conversation and contact us directly. You can reach out to us via live chat at eecu.org or by phone at (817) 882-0800.
