Your EECU checking account comes with a free debit Mastercard that lets you make secure and easy purchases online and in-person. Purchases made using your EECU debit card draw directly from your checking account. And you can use your debit card to access your cash at over 85,000 ATMs nationwide.

Below are some important highlights to help you understand your debit card.

Debit Card Transactions
There are two different types of debit card transactions, each is processed differently and it's important to understand the difference. If you use your pin number to complete a transaction, it will post immediately. If you use your signature to complete the transaction, it will be shown as pending in online and mobile banking but will not be cleared/posted until the merchant submits the final approval.

You can view your recent transactions in Online Banking and the EECU Mobile App.

Understanding Current vs Available Balance
Your current balance is the sum of all posted/cleared transactions that EECU is aware of, and DOES NOT include pending transactions. Pending transactions will be listed at the top of your account history. For example, if you have a $100.00 current balance and you just used your EECU Debit Card to make a $60.00 payment, then your current balance will show $100.00 because the current balance does not include the pending debit card transaction.

Your available balance is the sum of all transactions, plus or minus the pending (credit or debit) transactions that EECU is aware of. For example, if you have a $100.00 current balance and you just used your EECU Debit Card to make a $60.00 payment, then your available balance will be $40.00 because the available balance does include the pending debit card transaction. Overdraft fees are based off the Available Balance at the TIME each transaction is posted/cleared. Click here to read our Overdraft Protection FAQs

It is important to note that the available balance does not include the following: pre-scheduled debit card transactions, outstanding ACH transactions, or any payments you have made that have not yet been processed by EECU.

Digital Wallet
Your EECU debit card supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. There are no fees associated with this. Using your digital wallet is a secure way of making payments at retailers that support these transactions.

Pin numbers
Your pin number is a private 4 digit number that is required for many transactions. To change or reset your debit card’s pin number please call (888) 891-2435. Please ensure your debit card is available before you call.

Transaction Limits
To protect the security of your account, your debit card has multiple transaction limits. The per day limits are:
  • $2,500 for signature transactions
  • $2,500 for pin transactions
  • 15 signature transactions
  • $600 in ATM cash withdrawals
ATMs, that are not managed by EECU, may be subject to additional limits. For temporary adjustments to your daily limit, please call (817) 882-0800.

As a member of EECU, you have access to a network of over 85,000 free ATMs. To find an ATM near you, visit our ATMs & Financial Centers page.
