Your EECU checking account comes with a free debit Mastercard that lets you make secure and easy purchases online and in-person. Purchases made using your EECU debit card draw directly from your checking account. And you can use your debit card to access your cash at over 85,000 ATMs nationwide.

Below are some important highlights to help you understand your debit card.

Debit Card Transactions
There are two different types of debit card transactions, each is processed differently and it's important to understand the difference. If you use your pin number to complete a transaction, it will post immediately. If you use your signature to complete the transaction, it will be shown as pending in online and mobile banking but will not be cleared/posted until the merchant submits the final approval.

You can view your recent transactions in Online Banking and the EECU Mobile App.

Understanding Current vs Available Balance
Your current balance is the sum of all posted/cleared transactions that EECU is aware of, and DOES NOT include pending transactions. Pending transactions will be listed at the top of your account history. For example, if you have a $100.00 current balance and you just used your EECU Debit Card to make a $60.00 payment, then your current balance will show $100.00 because the current balance does not include the pending debit card transaction.

Your available balance is the sum of all transactions, plus or minus the pending (credit or debit) transactions that EECU is aware of. For example, if you have a $100.00 current balance and you just used your EECU Debit Card to make a $60.00 payment, then your available balance will be $40.00 because the available balance does include the pending debit card transaction.

It is important to note that the available balance does not include the following: pre-scheduled debit card transactions, outstanding ACH transactions, or any payments you have made that have not yet been processed by EECU.

Digital Wallet
Your EECU debit card supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. There are no fees associated with this. Using your digital wallet is a secure way of making payments at retailers that support these transactions.

Pin numbers
Your pin number is a private 4 digit number that is required for many transactions. To change or reset your debit card’s pin number please call (888) 891-2435. Please ensure your debit card is available before you call.

Transaction Limits
To protect the security of your account, your debit card has multiple transaction limits. The per day limits are:
  • $2,500 for signature transactions
  • $2,500 for pin transactions
  • 15 signature transactions
  • $600 in ATM cash withdrawals
ATMs, that are not managed by EECU, may be subject to additional limits. For temporary adjustments to your daily limit, please call (817) 882-0800.

ATM Fees
As a member of EECU, you have access to a network of over 85,000 free ATMs. To find an ATM near you, visit our ATMs & Financial Centers page. If you are using an ATM that is outside of our network, you will be charged a fee by EECU on top of any fees charged by that ATM provider. Refer to the Fee schedule for the EECU fee.

Requesting a new debit card.
There are two options for requesting a new debit card. You may visit your local Financial Center to have a replacement debit card issued immediately or you can also call us at (817) 882-0800 and we'll ship you a new card within 7 to 10 business days.

Setting up debit card alerts.
There are two types of alerts for debit cards:
  1. Debit Card Fraud Alerts will notify you of suspected fraudulent activity that occurs on your debit card, in real-time.
  2. Debit Card Activity Alerts will notify you of debit card activity, in real-time, that you request.

Travel Notifications.
It is critical that you notify EECU before you travel to prevent your debit card from being suspended. Some countries are automatically blocked by our network, and unexpected travel may also trip fraud alerts. By notifying us before you travel, we can prevent service from being disrupted. International transactions.
The international fee for debit card transactions is up to 1% of the international transaction, regardless of whether the transaction was initiated within the United States or outside of the United States.
