What is a Contactless card?

Contactless cards let you tap your card on the checkout terminal to pay, in addition to inserting or swiping your card.

What is a Contactless payment?

A debit or credit card with the contactless feature can be tapped or held near a contactless-enabled checkout terminal. Encrypted card information is then sent using near field communication (NFC) technology between the card and the contactless reader on the checkout terminal.

How do you pay with a Contactless card?

First, look at your card to see if it has the Contactless Symbol. Then, look for the Contactless Symbol on the checkout terminal. Hover or tap your contactless EECU debit or credit card within a few inches of the Contactless Symbol. Then, just confirm your payment and you're all set.

Are Contactless payments secure?

Yes, Contactless payments are secure. They offer the same security as EMV Chip transactions and they are backed by Zero Liability Protection.† This means you are not liable for purchases not made by you. We also offer fraud protection and monitoring to help keep you safe. † Learn more about these benefits in the Mastercard® Guide to Benefits
